Selby Gardens is a safe, inclusive, and welcoming space for all members of the community. To engage with our sensory-sensitive and neurodiverse audiences after regular visiting hours, we are hosting a private after-hours Selby Gardens’ experience. The Gardens will remain open for an extra hour to offer a quiet exploration of our grounds — without the crowds or noise. 

During this event, neurodiverse and sensory-sensitive guests, their family, and caretakers will receive complimentary tickets to Selby Gardens! Guests receive a customized map on arrival with easily identified icons to indicate areas of the Gardens with interactivity (touch, smells, etc.) or displays that may be overstimulating (loud noises, strong odors, etc.). The greenhouse, gift shop, cafe, and art museum will be closed; however, the Rainforest Garden, Tidal Lagoon, Mangrove Boardwalk, restrooms, and all walking paths will remain open. 

Noise-cancelling earmuffs and wheelchairs are available on loan, free of charge. You are welcome to bring any tools, toys, or stimming devices to make your visit as comfortable as possible. Advanced registration is required, and all family and caretakers of our neurodiverse guests also receive free program admission. A “see you tomorrow” informational email will be sent out the day before to all advance registration participants. 

Guests will check-in at the Welcome Center. The best address for mapping is: 1534 Mound Street, Sarasota, FL 34236. Parking is located in the Morganroth Family Living Energy Access Facility (LEAF) parking structure. The event is 5:15p.m. until 6:15p.m., and check-in begins at 5:10p.m..

As a reminder, although this special program takes place after Selby Gardens’ regular hours, these resources are also available from the Welcome Center during regular business hours.
